AMCO Batteries Limited of the Amalgamations Group is a large supplier of Automotive Batteries in India and a market leader in two wheeler automotive segment.
The company had beginnings in 1932, and was subsequently taken over by AMALGAMATIONS Group in 1955. AMCO commenced operations under the stewardship of late Mr. Anantharamakrishnan. It was his vision, ably supported by his management team that has led to the exponential growth of the company and now occupies a leadership position in the automotive battery segment.
The leadership provided by the late Chairmen, Dr. A. Sivasailam, who was also the Chairman of the Amalgamations Group and also the late Ms. Jayshree Venkataraman propelled the growth of the company from its humble beginnings as an accumulator manufacturer to its current position.
The company had, since then been swift to take in stride the opportunities and challenges offered by the fast evolving Indian automotive industry, to emerge a leader in the battery segment.
AMCO Batteries Limited is a member of the over Rs.7000 crore Amalgamations Group, one of the largest light engineering groups in India. The company is a leading battery manufacturer, with wide spectrum of world class, high performance batteries for the automobile industry.
Over the last two decades, the company has invested substantially in R&D and continues to bring the best of products to the market place. AMCO, the market leader for two wheeler automotive batteries in the country also manufactures world class batteries for four wheelers with a wide product range comprising of Dry Charged, Factory Charged and Maintenance Free batteries.
AMCO occupies pride of place in both, the original equipment and replacement markets. In fact, most of the two wheelers have AMCO Batteries as O.E. Fitment.
On account of its track record in the two wheeler battery segment, the company has the privilege of being an OEM supplier to Hero Moto Corp, TVS, HMSI, Yamaha, Bajaj, Royal Enfield, Mahindra 2Wheelers etc. The company has a track record of supplying 4 wheeler batteries to TAFE Tractors, Eicher Tractors, Sonalika Tractors etc.
AMCO has acquired QS 9000:1998, ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and TS16949 certification, which is a proof of its highest quality standards and Eco friendliness. It has been a pioneer in launching two wheeler batteries in India and was the first to launch two wheeler polypropylene batteries in 1984-85.
In April 2006, the company celebrated its Golden Jubilee.
